I received my Pimax 8k v2 on Saturday morning.

ive tried all weekend to get the pimax 8k to work motion compensation with no success, sorry for the bad news.

ive tried every variation and trick I know, All the software works, it tracks through steam Vr, but when you set a controller or Vive tracker to motion compensation, the controller or Vive tracker acts as a hmd, replicating the world, which basically gives double the world, double vision, one world stays still and the over moves with controller or tracker and really distorts badly, like a poor video signal.

hopefully this might save people money and getting their hopes up for large FOV and using it with the Race Cube, I haven’t finished trying and will keep trying.

ive put out messages in the right places to try and get some support, I will update the forum if I have any news.

Great post! Thank you for letting us all know. I'm sure someone will make it work at some point in the future, after all it's still quite new.

Well done Joseph, you saved us some money again LOL

I just upgraded from Rift to Vive Pro, can I have first option on your throwaways ?

How is the Pimax in comparison (Exluding the motion comp) ??

I've found a nice difference in the Vive, but even more so using X-Plane, where the distant scenery is a huge thing to see where you flying

I'm sure you will"develop" a solution soon, good luck mate

Hi Andrew

nothing like finding out the hard way

Anyway im really not convinced by the Pimax right now, I have played around with a bit, but it didn't get me that excited to really make the effort once I knew the motion compensation wouldn't work.

the overall graphics look good but the FOV is not great the 8k as the Sides distort to much for me, I will put in the cupboard for now and revist later.

I'm really hoping VIVE bring out a new HMD with a wider FOV this year.

I can now also confirm after extensive testing the 5K+ currently will not work with the Open Vr emulator to use Motion Compensation.

i will endeavour to get this rectified.

i will also test the new Valve headset as soon as it comes available,

Have you ordered Valve Index? Getting it soon to test? I just found Vive pro with 2.0 beacons and hand controls for 850€ and are really interested if Index will work to not get that Vive pro if it does (vive does not seem to be so much of upgrade from Rift). I will have to return Vive soon if I don´t take it

Hello guys

Just a heads up.

Pimax has released a new beta version of their pitools software.

This version INCLUDES motion compensation for Pimax headsets.

It's the first beta that icludes this feature so probably not perfect but definitely this is good news.

For the moment I can't try it since my racing cube is at Fasetech to be updated to the latest version.

Can't wait to try it!!!

Hello everybody

Sorry to revive such a old thread but I want to report my results on motion compensation with pimax 5k+

A few days ago I bought a vive tracker and screwed it on the back of my seat, just behind my head and just a little bit above my head so it is very well visible by my base station.

I have spent days trying to make motion compensation work with the pimax.

The problem was that with motion compensation on the image in the pimax was not correct, it's difficult to explain what I was seeing.

Imagine to be in steam vr home in front of the black board, instead of seeing it horizontal, I was seeing the board vertical.

The solution was to rotate the tracker till I saw the correct image in the headset.

So I am happy to report motion compensation in the pimax works 100%

Today I probably had my best flight with DCS F16 on my racing cube.

Amazing!!!
