Jerky motion after Win10 May update

Yesterday evening I updated my PC with win 10 May update.

This morning I turned on my racing cube and it doesn't work very well anymore.

I use DCS world with the experimental plugin provided by Dirty on xsimulator forum

The motion is not smooth at all, very jerky and somewhat slowed down, it's almost like the racing cube is receiving data at a slower than normal rate from the PC.

I am 99% sure it's due to the win update because I tried to connect my old computer where the update to windows has not been performed and the racing cube works as expected.

I tried to troubleshoot also by unplugging all my usb devices keeping only pimax, mouse, stick and racing cube connected but I still have the issue.

I was wondering if anybody did the win update and experienced something similar.

I have sent a mail to Fasetech support this afternoon and I am waiting for their answer, hopefully I will be able to sort this soon and I will report here any findings in case somebody needs them.

Hi Gianlu,

I'm not at the office until Monday and i have therefore not been able to test it during the weekend. I am quite certain that i have used the simulator after the May update and i have not seen any difference but i will test it further next week. I will also shoot an email to the developers to make sure we solve it if we are to blame here.

Could you look into USB power saving mode? This setting can cause a lot of troubles for a wide arrange of accessories if power saving is on, Windows have a habit of changing settings on updates or removing configs too.

I will get back to you on mail on Monday and update this thread when a solution is found.

Thanks Steffen

I checked the usb power saving options, some of them were in power saving mode and some were not.

I unchecked all of them so now all the usb power saving options are off but the problem is still there.

I have the feeling this is a usb problem but I am not sure.

But I am sure it started just after win10 update and my other pc without the update works perfectly with the racing cube.

Might be something specific to my configuration, may be some drivers not performing well with this new update.

Tomorrow I will continue the troubleshooting and I will keep you updated and I will also write here anything I might find.

The racing cube is not only jerky in motion but also slow, it seems it receives data from the pc at a slower than normal rate.

Thanks again for your help!

Update...
This morning I troubleshooted a little bit
Initially I checked that all the power saving options were disabled for the usb controllers and for anything else for that matter.
I don't know why but I feel it's something to do with usb or anyway something to do with the way the motion platform receives data from the computer.
The motion is jerky because I can feel every single step the motors are doing, and this is because the motion is somewhat slowed down.
I don't know how to better explain this thing.
Anyway nothing seemed to fix it.
So I decided as a last resort to roll back to the previous windows version.
I rolled back from win 2004 to version 1909 and PROBLEM FIXED!
The motion is perfect again.
Now I am not saying that for sure the update is the problem, it might be something specific to my computer, some driver that doesn't work well with the new update may be, who knows.
But the problem is only showing with win 2004 update.
Now what will it happen when the update becomes mandatory????

An update as promised.

The May update for Windows causes major USB problems for a lot of users around the world. The only fix for now is to revert back to the previous version if you experience any problems with the simulator. We hope that Microsoft will fix the issue fast.

Unfortunately there's nothing we can do but to wait for now. We are also experiencing USB issues with test equipment and other accessories at the production.

Thank you for the update and for the continued support Steffen

Hopefully Microsoft will fix this issue fast.

For the moment I can confirm that after reverting to windows 1909 the racingcube works perfectly

Today I tried again to update windows to the latest build. (Ver. 2004)

And again same problem as before.

The racing cube doesn't work correctly.

The motion is somewhat slowed down, and Jerky.

I am about to revert again to the previous windows version where everything works as expected.

Is there anybody running the racing cube to the latest windows build?

I don't understand if this is a problem I only have (may be computer hardware specific) or even other racing cube users have it.

It does very much seem like it's hardware specific for some configurations. I have not reports of the issue on the Zotac Zboxes that we ship with the simulator and i cannot recreate the issue either. I am not completely sure what is causing the issue yet, but we are investigating. We also hope mfort Microsoft toi address the USB issues as well.

@gianlu320 We just released an update that should fix the USB issues introduced in W10 build 2004. This is a temporary fix until SimTools 3.0 is released.

You can find the updated version in your account. It's v2.5.1
