Dear fellow RacingCube fans,

some pics and words about my adaptions to my RacingCube.

What has been done so far:

Mount for Oculus touch controller (for motion compensation) on the seat, the Rock Band guitar controller was used for that and works great

Mount for my customized Logitech G25 shifter, to have my preferred position

Customized Logitech G25 with original KTM X-Bow wheel, all buttons are usable

Quick release and exchange for pedals, race and flight

What needs to be done: (will keep you updated)

Keyboard mount for a Logitech K400

Adaptable mount for Thrustmaster T16000 throttle, horizontal for planes and vertical for helicopters

Adaptable mount for stick, center for fighterjets, helicopters,.. and sidestick for Airbus type planes

cheers

Michael

Great post, thank you for sharing!  Would you be able to add some photos at some point?

Do you still use motion compensation for the Oculus and have you gotten it to work after the latest Oculus firmware patch? I know a lot have problems with it including myself. If you can share something that would be great!

Sorry about that, i have made editing possible for one hour. I am still tweaking the settings to have security and usability in balance.

On Monday i will introduce a better an more intuitive way to upload files, that will be with GUI and formatting.

Edit: i fixed your post.

Hey Michael, well done with the mods

I like your quick release for the pedal/rudder. I'm actually busy right now with something similar so I will make use of what you have done.

I'm literally busy with mine, so I'll post some pics (For Steffen :)) once im done

Hi Andrew,

good to here you like my mods.

At the back there are some rubber stribes, fixed with double sided adhesive band. Not perfect so far, but it works, maybe I switch to a more sticky glue.

Update: Oculus Rift CV1 is history, the VIVE pro age just begun. 🍾

First of all: Motion compensation or motion cancellation works now perfect, or let me call it, almost perfect.

First approach to mount the Vive tracker to the rig, was a quick and dirty cable tie and duct tape sollution, fixing a budget camera tripot to the Oculus mount at the seat.

Tracker 01
Tracker 02

The tracker was at the seat, but not dedected by OpenVR-InputEmulator and SteamVR started into save mode. I could fix this with changing to other USB3 ports.

After having erverything up and runnig, first laps with Assetto Corsa.

Compensation was working in general, at all 4 DOFs, but the tracker mount seemed to be not stable enough. A huge amount of bouncing.

That brought me to tracker mount Ver. 2. Much more rigit and nor more bouncing.

Tracker 03
Tracker 04

That's great to hear! If you want some insight knowledge you can see JMB-3D's posts he have used a lot of time to figure out where the ideal placement for the tracker is. I have personally tried his setup and i experienced ZERO oddities or complications.

- I need to get me a Vive Pro haha!

Dear RacingCube fans,

as spending more and more time with my rig, lots of hours of racing (Assetto Corsa), driving (American Truck simulator) and riding (No Limits 2), the more I like the force and response it applies.

But as good as the actuators are, the sitting position is more and more getting a disturbing factor to me, limiting the immersion of VR.

Driving in a truck should be not the same as racing a Formula 3 car. Based on that, I did some work to get the maximum immersion out of the Racing Cube.

1) Seat improvements:

Added flexibility for hight, angle and position. All with quick release and clamping.

Changeable within some seconds.

Max down

Seat max low

Max up

Seat max up

Max recline

Seat max recline

2) Pedal improvements: Added flexibility for hight and angle incl. the former quick exchange system

Everything changeable within seconds

Down and even

Pedal max low

Up and angled

Pedal up and angle

Some more will follow, I will keep you updated.

Michael
