Hi All

The simulator arrived at lunch time today, packaging was strong and all parts where Undamaged, the weight was 90kg, on unpacking I found all parts had been carefully packed and cable tied down to the pallet and to others heavier parts aswell.
After laying everything out on the floor and downloading and printing of the instructions with in 3 hours I had the simulator set up, the cabling took a bit longer along with adding all my hardware, everything fitted well, with. The odd adjustment here and their until I got things relatively comfortable for now.

Downloaded sim tools, loaded the iracing patch, got great technical support had the simulator up and running, the settings were set to low to start with and after I was happy with continuing on my own I got to do some testing, with the new knowledge on how to change some basic settings.

My first test in the Porsche at Autódromo José Carlos Pace was tentative and felt a little strange, Baring in my mind this was a new seat and new seating position, and the pedals also felt different, using the HTC Vive Pro was my biggest apprehension knowing that Fasetech hadn’t tested it, on this test it also seemed strange and had a little drift, I had to recenter the view a few times.

The second test at the same track with the settings now turned up a little more improved everything.

The third and final test for now with the settings turned up even more was an even better improvement, the simulator is very responsive and really does feel great, theirs plenty of movement and very quick to do so, going up and down the hills especially in the bends is very immersive, you really feel like your looking down or up as you drive, your body feels everything, when cornering you can really feel the car pushing you into the side of your seat, and when you brake hard into a bend you feel yourself moving forward. The Vr Tracking is more stable with more movement, seems strange to write that, but that how it worked. the over thing which seems even stranger are the graphics have improved, I’m not sure why but my gut instinct is something. To do with the seating position, I’m not sure if it’s because I’m now a lot more higher up, I hadn’t moved the seating position or the base stations, just the simulator makes the new seat a lot higher than my other set up. I was also very curious what the simulator was going to do to my lap times, well the good news for me is that they are the same with a definitive feel that they will improve, I think that is also partly to do with the new positioning of the seat and pedals, the simulator has made the position feel a lot more realistic, the movement of the simulator also adds to the overall feel and I found myself taking tighter lines through the corners., I matched my quickest time with in 10 laps or so. I rammed the barriers a few times just to see how it felt and it gave me a good shock which felt good and strong, spinning out also feels ok, you certainly know you have.

My overall first impressions are very positive and I came off the simulator feeling very rewarded, the wait and the money were worth it, I will improve the settings bit by bit until I’m happy, I don’t see this being an issue. Fasetech have done a good job with this and I personally wish them every success in the future with improving on a very worth while project.

I will post more photos and a video of it in use ASAP.

Hello JBM!

The configuration of the sensations like, the change of gears, the acceleration, the brake.

They are very soft and barely perceptible in the video.

Don´t you think?

Sorry for my bad english

Yes I agree

ive got the settings turned down right now until I get a feel for the simulator, I have tried them turned right up and the sim moves to much for a car, especially a Porsche where the suspension is hard. I will keep trying out the settings until I reach a happy medium,

considereation has also got to be given to the vr tracking.

Hi JMB,

Regarding the VR, would it be better to use just one of the Vive base stations to the frame of the simulator behind the removed link By doing this it would only be picking up your head movement instead of movement of you whole body and the removed link The reason I'm thinking this and I could be completely wrong about this is, if the VR sensors are attached to the wall for instance, when the simulator yaws left or right but you are looking straight ahead in the simulation the VR headset would think you are looking left or right and the same principal would apply for pitch and removed link

Regards

 Steve

Hi Steve

Yes your right.Unfortunately the Vive base stations cannot be used on the rig because it moves and the base station switches off, I've tried a lot of different combinations, at the moment the simple fact is you cannot have to much yaw and Pitch. Their still enough to get a good feeling and right now I'm still playing with the settings to find the happy medium, Once I get it just right I will post up the settings for sim tools.

Vive have new trackers out which I'm trying to get my hands on but all sold out right now, im assuming at the moment they are the same as the hand held triggers that come with the vive, I've tried putting them on the back of my seat to help with tracking, still testing that to see if it helps, will update on everything soon.

scary at times, motors seem to be staying cool, by touch. ?

So I’ve just finished a race, I think I might have the force turned up to much, but great fun, my setting in the tuning centre is 3, in the gaming centre or sim settings yaw, sway and pitch at 5 the rest on 20. I came 3rd which was a result, something was going right.

The scary thing though and I thought I was going mad, maybe the vr playing tricks was when I came off the sim had moved 12 inches or more, I wouldn’t mind I put some. Rubber under the base plate to stop that just in case, not actually thinking it would, their was just some little blue packing squares that I thought I would make use off, anyway lucky enough I had bought a 3 meter cable for the sim replacing the two meter one that came with it, the race was for 20 laps and I think if it had been more I might of not been so lucky, any way I’m glad I know now so I can secure the base plate. Be warned.

Hi JMB,

I am installing iRacing as we speak and I was wondering a couple of things:

how you managed the install of the Profile

Is it run from steam or not and how about Oculus support

what are your favourite settings
