Hi FT team,

I'm glad to be in the first batch, and I'm planning to upgrade some of my hardware accessories to enjoy the RC4 as much as possible, but I have some questions regarding size, weight and frame holes compatibility:

1.For Flight Sim:

a. Can you confirm the size of the pedal base frame, as I'm using the MFG Crosswind rudders, with a full size of 40x51cm? In case it's not fitting, is there any option to adjust the feet base somehow?. Link from the manufacturer website:

http://mfg.simundza.com/assets/downloads/Specifications.pdf

b. Is it possible to install the HOTAS joystick frame plate between the legs (middle-centre position), instead of being on the right side as advertised on your website? I'm using the TM Warthog full set, and I only use the joystick in the centre position.

2. For Racing Sim:

a. I will use an OSW wheel system (expected weight around 15kg just for the wheelbase). As it will be a little bit heavy, I would like to know if the wheelbase frame will be hard enough (thickness) to avoid to be bent during its use (30Nm).

b. A full set of Heusinkveld pedals, with a baseplate of 34x33cm. I guess its not a problem such size for the pedal base frame. You can check the baseplate measures, hole details and pictures on this link from the manufacturer website:

https://heusinkveld.com/products/sim-pedals/sim-pedals-baseplate/?v=06a159683b76

Is it possible to buy an additional shifter/joystick frame plate? In order to avoid mount and unmount the frame plate every time I swap from flight (middle position installation for the joystick) to racing "mode" (right side position installation for the shifter) and vice-versa.

Thank you and Rgds.

Hi Sete!

Out initial width of the foot support is 48cm at the most narrow place, however i can try and speak with the engineer and see if we can make it fit for you.

I am looking into installing the joystick between the legs, but i am still awaiting on confirmation from our engineer too. Once i hear from him i'll get back to you!

The forces from the wheel should not be a problem as we use steel for the frame, it is very tough. However remember to keep within the 150kg max weight (15kg Frame inclusive) Otherwise you should be good.

We can arrange to make an extra foot support plate if you need, but it might be easier just to change the equipment. That is of course up to you!

Thank you for providing me with information about the mounts of the equipment! I'll hand it over to our engineer ASAP.

Regards
Steffen

Hi Steffen,

Thats awesome! it would be great if you can modify the foot area in order to fit my rudder pedals as its a must in my case.

Hopefully you will be able to mount the joystick in the middle position.

In case it would be possible to order an extra shifter/joystick plate, please let me know.

Thanks Steffen

I currently have a CAD model that i'll try to make a little more pretty with some measurements on it. Those are the final numbers and should be able to suit you needs. (I'll confirm it once i get a chance)

We have a prototype on a mount for placing the joystick in the middle. However we will not be able to fit a full size joystick (The one you use in real helicopters) The simulator is just not bit enough for it. But for example a Thrustmaster WARTHOG will be doable.

Once i can show you the mount i will!

Hello @steffen

i’ve just seen this thread and just learned that the maximum width for mounting the rudder pedals is 48 cm

I was planning to order and mount a set of slaw device rx viper pedals and they have a maximum width of 53 cm

You said in a previous post that the pedal area on the racing cube might be modified to accomodate a larger pedal set.

Can you elaborate this? Is it really possible

Hi gianlu320,

Yes this is correct, Michael have answered your email. But to elaborate here. There is two measurements, the lower part of the foot support is 53,1 and the upper part where the frame is attached is 45,2 cm. We are still trying to see if we can make it a bit wider but we are not sure it is possible currently without redesigning the whole platform.

I am working on getting a drawing out with measurements so you can see it. But for your particular model i cannot see how it would fit currently. I will have a conversation with our engineer on Friday about the problem and i will let you all know.

Thanks @steffen

yes I’ve received the mail...

I hope we can find a solution, I still don’t have the pedals but they are the best of the best for aircraft sims and I would like to order them and use them.

And they are not expensive, they are 550 usd without shipping.

I am not affiliated in any ways with slaw, I’ve just read a lot about his pedals and I know they are the best!

Yeah, they seem quite good compared to the price and i just got all the data together from the survey and it seems that they are quite popular.

I am currently waiting on the final answer.

I was looking at other pedal options in case the final width on the racing cube is the one previously announced (480 mm) and I can’t find anything

Airplane pedals seem all to be wider than car pedals

Mfg crosswind have a width of 494 mm

Simped look more or less the same width as well

I can’t seem to find one less wide

may be somebody knows a less wide set?
